Suzuki RACESAFE on board for ASC

The crew from the Suzuki RACESAFE Medical Team will be providing expert care for competitors at ALL rounds of the Australian Supercross Championship. As well as providing specialist acute care for all ranges of injury, the team will also offer advice regarding injury prevention and rehabilitation. Simon Maas, the Director of Emergency Services at Suzuki RACESAFE said that “the team are thrilled to be a part of the 2012 Australian Supercross Championship. I’m sure it’s going to be a tightly fought series, with many thrills and spills along the way. We will be there for the riders during this exciting sports toughest moments.”

The extensive nature of the team and its role is highlighted by Maas. “As the Official Medical Team of ASX series, the Suzuki RACESAFE crew consists of medical professionals who donate their time as volunteers to help the riders when things go wrong. This elite crew will include Emergency Doctors, Orthopaedic Surgeons, Intensive Care Paramedics, Nurses, Physiotherapists and support staff travelling across Australia to every round of the championship.”

“Our role is to be there to provide assistance from the smallest of sports medicine issues to help keep a rider on the track – through to the most serious of situations providing immediate emergency life saving care at the trackside. The Suzuki RACESAFE program will function from the Suzuki RACESAFE Mobile Medical Unit located in the pit area, allowing the riders of this international quality championship similar facilities of an emergency department right here at the racetrack.”

As would be expected, a team of this magnitude is quite costly and relies on numerous sponsors. According to Maas, “none of this would be possible without the dedication to rider safety shown by our major sponsor Suzuki Australia, in addition to support sponsors for the Australian Supercross medical program – Yamaha, KTM, Polaris, Volvo Group, AirRoad, Motul – Link International, Raceline, Thor – Gas Imports, Philips Medical and BOC Medical. A huge debt of gratitude goes to all these sponsors who care for the safety of all riders and share the Suzuki RACESAFE passion for safe racing !”

I am sure that everyone would agree when I say it is great to have such professional medical support for our riders. Thanks in advance Suzuki RACESAFE.
